Everyone who wants to deal successfully with crisis situations, should be well prepared. The core part of such a prevention strategy is a crisis manual. It provides essential rules (policies) and practical support instruments concerning the organization in case of a crisis (e.g. list of all possible contact persons, flow charts, check lists, emergency plans). The manual should be updated on a regular basis, at least once per quarter. Essential part of the manual is the crisis profile, containing all potentials risks in the firm´s environment. In a second step these risks should be analyzed and evaluated in order to develop recommendations. Nevertheless it is very hard to act perfectly in a crisis situation. Continuous preparation therefore is a must.
